The NHL is trying to crackdown on unnecessary blows to the head.
The NHL's Senior Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations, Colin Campbell, had the following memo, obtained by TSN, posted in every NHL dressing room on Friday.
"Recently, we have had two (2) supplemental discipline incidents involving direct elbow blows to the head. This is a play that we have been trying to remove from our game for a number of years. In one case there was no injury and in the other incident the elbowed Player received a concus
General managers will have one extra day to make NHL trades. The league said yesterday it has pushed the trade deadline back to March 4. A high volume of games forced the switch. There are 12 games on the schedule March 3 and only two March 4. The league and NHL Players' Association agreed on the change.

DALLAS - The Anaheim Ducks are fully aware of how poorly Stanley Cup champions have defended their titles lately.
And, sure, they realize how close they've already come to adding to that sad history, having faced deficits of 2-0 and 3-1 in their first-round series against the Dallas Stars.

The Anaheim Ducks will likely have forward Corey Perry back in the lineup on Thursday for Game 4 of their Western Conference series against the Dallas Stars.
Perry has been out six weeks after being struck in the thigh by the skate blade of Colorado goalie Jose Theodore in a regular season game and suffered a lacerated tendon above his right knee.
The injury caused Perry - who led the Ducks with 29 goals - to miss the remainder of the regular season and the first three games of the playoffs.
