This past week we have been previewing streams that are equal to that of TV quality.
We have been doing these as a trial to determine what the best resolution, bit rate and Frames per second would be.
We have gathered enough research on the matter and are proud to be introducing a new membership, Premium HD™.
Membership Features:
- 640x480 Resolution (2x that of the Premium Membership (This is the resolution that standard definition feeds are shown at on your TV.)
- 900KBps Bit Rate
- 29.97 FPS
- HD Archives
We must point out that to start this membership off, Not all games will be broadcast in these resolutions. Only some of the games will be at this quality.
The Benefit:
- Connect your computer to your TV and watch hockey in crystal clear quality on your TV.
- Games that are streamed in HD will also be archived in HD.
- You still get access to the Premium Membership features in case you are in a remote area with a slower internet connection.

This new membership will be priced very reasonably.

- 1 Month ($13.99)
- 3 Months ($30.99)
- 6 Months ($50.99)

Existing members that are already subscribed to the Premium Membership and would like access to the Premium HD™ Membership will have an option to upgrade their account by donating the difference between the memberships. This can be done by Clicking here.

HD PremiumJason, just curious whether the resolution is going to be 480i or 480p?...480p is much better than 480i but 480i will still be awesome for internet streaming.

in the futureUpscaling a stream would look worse than leaving it at its original resolution.
A normal SD channel upscaled to 480i would look worse than running it at 480i, That was the decision we were faced to make.#8 10/06/2008 - 03:11 PMeasy

:)Hey, It will start off being shown 4:3, and we will start on developing a solution for widescreen so it isn't stretched.
We tried 800x450 (16:9) and it seemed stretched, if we crop it, it would crop the score and clock.

i believe he ment 480p on that since if we did 480i would have to run 60fps just to look right. most standard streamers use 320x240, myself have tested and i use 460x360 536kbit with good results and min frame drop (as in 1 frame for every 1000) and i will use that as my standard res.
